Prepare your items
Clothes
-
Wash
and iron if necessary (we will not accept wrinkled clothes).
-
Hang
all clothes on hangers. The top of the hangers must form a question
mark.
-
2+ piece sets must be hung together (we can not accept half of a
2-piece set).
-
Pants must be hung on a pant hanger, not folded over so
that customers can view without taking them off. (you
will not get your hangers back).
-
All
buttons and snaps must be done. Clothing should be
presented the same as it would new in a clothing store.
Tip:
Many stores such as Target, Wal-mart, K-Mart and department stores
will give you left over hangers for free if you ask them.
Shoes
-
Clean
top to bottom so shoes are free of dirt and scuffs, laces
and straps must be tied together and pin
tags to shoestrings or eyelets.
-
You
may also want to place a piece of masking tape on the bottom of the
shoe with your consignor ID, in case the price tag comes off.
Toys/Baby
Equipment
-
Must
be completely clean
and assemble. (give yourself time to assemble on drop-off day).
Insert
batteries if required (customers will not buy it unless they know it
works) and include
manuals and directions if possible.
-
Place
small pieces in a zip lock bag and attach to main item. Games
should be taped closed & contain all pieces
-
Tie
your tag through these items or tape securely.
-
It
is a good idea to write your consignor ID on zip lock bags with a
sharpie incase the tag comes off.
-
Books:
clean off covers and check for torn pages. Place price tag on the
back. Videos/ DVD's:
must include matching cover. Place price tag on the back.
Furniture
-
Clean
and assemble and include
manuals and directions if possible. You
may want to touch up chipped furniture with paint- it is worth the
investment!
-
Place
small parts in a zip lock bag and attach to the main piece securely.
Linens
-
Wash
and iron if necessary. Pin
comforters and items to a hanger.
-
Smaller pieces,
such as towels, groups of bibs or changing pad covers, may be sealed
in a clear plastic bag or garment bag.
4)
Print your tags and attach to your items.
For all
items that you want donated after the sale you must print
your tags on colored card stock paper.
For all
items that you do not want donated after the sale you must
print your tags on white card stock paper.
Safety
pin your price tag to the top right corner of the garment.
Use
colored tags if you want your unsold items to be donated after the
sale. (see our partners page for information on where
donate items will do). Please keep in mind that we are having
a bag sale for charity. All
colored tagged items will be sold for $7 per bag. All money
generated from this part of our sale will go directly to charity.
Price
tag must include your consignor ID number, item number, brief
description of the item,
size, price & "(1/2)" if you want your item to be
included in our half off sale on Saturday. We can not accept
any tags with cross outs or white out on it. We encourage you
to write a brief description on the tag in case the tag comes off your
item. *Tip: use a hole punch at the top of your tag for the pin.
Pricing
must be in increments of .50 or $1.00. Minimum price on clothing is
$2.00 so you may have to hang more than one item together to reach
this price. (ex: hang 2 or 3 onesies together)
Pricing
Tips:
1) Use
your discretion with pricing but remember if you keep the prices
fair your items will sell faster. The rule of thumb is 50-75%
below retail.
2) Price mart
brands (Wal-mart, Target, Kmart etc) lower than higher end brands.
For all toys,
books, videos, equipment, furniture and miscellaneous items that you can
not attach a safety pin to; you must securely tape your tags to
them. Please
follow same rules for color coding. Please make sure you tape the
tag so that it can be removed and still readable at check out.
3) If you
are trying to decide between two prices; go with the higher price
but put the "1/2" sign next to it so that if it does not
sell at the higher price you can still make money by selling it at
the 1/2 Off Sale.
